Description of the Painting
A landscape that has chosen to remain mostly hidden. Mist holds the canvas the way silence holds a room after something important has been said — completely, without apology. From the white, forms emerge only as much as they need to: dark clusters of foliage along the banks, a bare slender tree standing at the water's edge with the patience of something that has waited before, and in the upper right, one amber crown catching light that the rest of the world has let go. The palette is ash and pearl, slate and the faintest gold — colours that do not announce themselves but accumulate, the way dawn does. There is water here, or mist, or both; the boundary between earth and sky has dissolved by mutual agreement. A painting that asks nothing of the eye except to slow down, and stay.
