Description of the Painting
Two grids face each other across the centre of the canvas like the pages of a book held open — the left built from drawn lines and soft impasto, its cells pale and considered; the right more fluid, the brown and black bleeding beyond their borders as if the same structure has been exposed to weather and time. Between them, an organic form nestles — a rounded white shape that belongs to neither grid and seems to have arrived from somewhere else entirely, the one element that refuses the geometry's invitation. The palette moves from the warmth of raw amber and sienna on the right to the cooler greys and creams of the left, two temperatures in the same room. This is a painting about the relationship between the made and the unmade, the drawn and the dissolved, and the quiet persistence of form even as it yields to the forces that would undo it.
