Description of the Painting

A large curved form sweeps through the centre like a breath held and then released — its white arc dividing the canvas into quadrants that each carry their own temperature and weight. The upper left burns with deep terracotta and rust, thick and warm as fired clay; the right side answers in cream, sand, and the cool certainty of white impasto. A single black rectangle cuts across the upper right with the precision of a line in a sentence, the one element of the composition that refuses warmth entirely, and by refusing it, makes the warmth of everything else more apparent. The surfaces are generous and textured, painted with the confidence of a hand that has made many decisions and committed to all of them.
