Description of the Painting

Inside the birch forest looking out — pale trunks rise as a curtain of white and grey on both sides, their branches carrying leaves painted as individual squares of orange, red, and gold, each one a bright flat tile of colour against the soft interior light. Through the frame of trees, a body of water catches blue and silver, and beyond it the distance softens into suggestion.
