Description of the Painting

Autumn has reached the coast, and the cliffs are wearing it well. The foreground blazes in amber, burnt orange, and the last fierce gold of the season — wild grasses and low shrubs pressing against pale rock with an urgency that feels almost seasonal, almost final. Above them, dark pines stand with the permanent composure of things that do not change with the year, their silhouettes punctuating the sky at intervals, unhurried and certain.
