Description of the Painting

Lavender does not usually carry a landscape — and yet here it does, rising from the foreground in long vertical strokes that are less a field than a mood, less a colour than a feeling. A narrow stream winds through the centre, its surface catching the last warmth of a sky already turning from gold to cream. Tall trees on the left lean into the light, their dark trunks set against canopies still holding the day's amber. On the right, a deep mass of blue-violet shadow waits with the patience of something that knows its moment is coming. At the horizon, a soft glow refuses to name itself as sunrise or sunset, belonging instead to that suspended hour when the world holds its breath. This painting does not depict a place so much as a state of mind — that particular stillness when the day has not yet ended and the night has not yet arrived, and the only thing left to do is stand quietly in the light and let it be.
