Description of the Painting

Yellow does not usually ask permission — and here it takes the canvas entirely, blazing in broad, unapologetic strokes across fields that stretch to a pale horizon. Yet what makes this painting breathe is the counterweight: a still body of water cuts through the gold like a held thought, its surface cool and silvery blue, scattered with loose tiles of lavender and white that seem to have fallen from the sky rather than been placed by any hand. On the left, a dark mass of trees stands in deep teal and shadow — the only vertical presence in an otherwise horizontal world — grounding the luminosity with their quiet gravity. Above it all, an enormous pale sky dominates, barely tinted, almost white, giving the yellow below its maximum room to vibrate.
