Description of the Painting

Two faces, or one face twice, emerge from torn paper fragments arranged against a pale ground, their features rendered with a realist precision that makes the fragmentation all the more striking. The eyes are extraordinary: clear, blue-grey, fully present, looking outward with a directness that the broken form around them cannot diminish. Pieces of the faces overlap and separate, scattered with botanical motifs in gold and teal, raw edges of torn paper visible at every boundary. The palette is restrained and elegant — warm beige, teal, amber gold, deep brown — giving the work the feel of a collage assembled over time, each fragment placed with deliberate care.
