Description of the Painting
The trunks here are close, almost intimate — their white and cream bark richly textured, marked with dark knots and patches of pink and ochre where old branches once grew. Above them, golden autumn leaves catch the light, while to the right a blaze of deep red and orange announces that the season is fully, gloriously underway. The forest recedes in depth through the trunks, the middle distance dissolving into a soft mosaic of lavender, sage and teal.
