Description of the Painting

A bouquet placed in a world of angles. The flowers — white, loosely painted, with two sharp notes of red among them — rise from a glass jar with the kind of graceful disorder that no arrangement can fully achieve. Around them, the composition is anything but soft: bold rectangles of yellow, coral-red, charcoal, and black divide the background with the confidence of a painter who knows exactly where each colour belongs. The stems are drawn rather than painted, thin black lines that cut through the grey like something urgent and alive. A thin red line runs along the base of the canvas, a barely-there pulse beneath the stillness. This is a still life that refuses to be still — a dialogue between the organic and the constructed, the ephemeral and the permanent, played out in a single, commanding image.
