Description of the Painting
Two pale faces lean together beneath extravagant hats — one deep teal crowned by a wide-eyed bird, one warm gold blooming with colour — their features reduced to the most essential marks: shadow-brushed eyes, a touch of red or amber at the lip, the faint suggestion of a gaze that turns inward even while looking out. Between them, flowers dissolve into one another in soft oranges and pinks and purples, and at the right, a small owl perches with the knowing stillness of a creature that has seen this scene many times before.
